The School of Psychology has as its primary mission the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and professional services. Thus, the School of Psychology is committed through its activities to promote the different perspectives of psychology and to create an ideal place for the development of its students.

Undergraduate Program Description
The program provides the student and the student 1) detailed knowledge regarding the main theories, research, methodologies and applications specific to psychology, and 2) trained to analyze and understand certain situations and controversies from a psychological perspective.
Note: The Honours BA ( honors ) in Psychology or equivalent is normally a prerequisite for admission to graduate studies in psychology. However, the Université de Moncton and some other universities, the BA with a major in psychology or equivalent may be considered minimal training adequate for admission to the MA in Psychology. Bachelor’s degrees with honors with a major in psychology can also lead to admission to graduate studies in other disciplines. In all these cases, the student or the student must be informed of the specific admission requirements to the University and the proposed program.
The Bachelor of Arts with a major in psychology is a normal duration of 4 years, and has a minimum of 121 credits. The minor is selected from the various minor programs offered at the University. The student or the student is invited to consult the heads of departments concerned before making a final choice. The minimum requirements of the program are:
- 1) 11 courses (31 credits) earned in the first academic year following the standards of the University and the School of Psychology. With the exception of

- 8) 9-11 courses (27-33 credits) in the minor and its related disciplines, according to the terms of the minor.
Graduate Program Description
This program is designed for students and for students who wish to pursue a career in professional psychology. It leads to a Doctor’s degree or doctorate in psychology (D. Psych.) From an undergraduate degree in psychology. This program is designed to meet all the requirements of the Mutual Recognition Agreement (RRA), which was signed by the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick (CPNB) and regulators of the practice of psychology in other jurisdictions provincial and territorial governments of Canada. Thus, in addition to allowing the student or the student’s knowledge on the biological foundations, individual, social, and cognitive-emotional behavior, this program will allow him to develop knowledge and skills in each of the core competencies following:
- – Interpersonal relationships (establish and maintain a constructive alliance with the client and develop a sensitivity to cultural differences);
- – Evaluation and expertise (use appropriate methods to analyze and conceptualize a problem and to develop a plan of action);
- – Intervention and consultation (facilitate the functioning and psychological adjustment to the customer by means of improving well-being);
- – Research (use the knowledge and conduct studies based on scientific evidence that is relevant to the practice of psychology);
- – Standards and Ethics (endorse and promote the ethical principles put forward by the Canadian Psychological Association);
- – Supervision (assess and support the development of professional skills in psychology).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION
To be admitted to the PhD in psychology (professional profile) (D. Psych.), The candidate must:
- – Or be holding a bachelor’s degree in Psychology or equivalent with a minimum average of 3.20 in a system where the maximum score is 4.30. The BA with a major in psychology can also serve as a basis for admission, however, a propaedeutic may be required;
- – Have an adequate knowledge of both official languages of Canada. In this regard, the School of Psychology may require a review of language skills;
- – Contact the Registrar an application that includes the following documents:
- a) the application for admission;
- b) two official transcripts of all previous university studies;
- c) two letters (forms) of recommendation outlining the skills to succeed in graduate studies;
- d) a letter of intent with respect to the proposed research topic, field of interest for psychology practice and work experience (paid or volunteer) helping relationships;
- e) a curriculum vitae;
- f) all the above documents, which constitute the application, must be received by the Registrar of the University on or before 1
st
- February, for an entry in the program in September of the same year;
- g) the candidate whose application for admission is considered favorable, will participate in an interview either on site or by teleconference call.
